Beginning in March, the next phases of construction of the Munger Graduate Residences and the ongoing renovation of South Quadrangle will increase impacts to nearby sidewalks and streets. Please note that vehicular and pedestrian access to both sides of the Thompson Street Parking Structure, as well as vehicular and pedestrian access to Kennedy Drive will be maintained at all times throughout construction of these projects.

During the week of March 3, work on the Munger Graduate Residences will require the closure of the southbound vehicle lane of Thompson Street, in addition to the currently closed sidewalk and parking lane, from the south end of the Thompson Street Parking Structure to the East Madison Street-Thompson Street intersection. This section of Thompson Street will become one-way northbound for vehicles, and pedestrian access will be maintained on the east side of the street until May, when this section of Thompson Street will then be closed entirely to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic for the duration of the Munger Graduate Residences construction and initiation of the anticipated West Quadrangle renovation. Also during the week of March 3, the eastern parking lane, bike lane, and sidewalk of South Division Street will be closed from the Packard Street intersection to the south end of the Thompson Street Parking Structure; pedestrian traffic will be detoured to the west side of South Division Street.

During the week of March 10, East Madison Street between Packard Street and South State Street will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic to support the installation of new utilities. Pedestrian traffic on the north side of East Madison Street will resume approximately one week later. East Madison Street will remain closed to vehicular traffic for the months of March and April; during this time, access to residents’ driveways will be maintained at all times.

In mid-March, the intersection of Thompson Street and East Madison Street will close to vehicles for continued utility installation. The intersection will re-open in early April. In addition, there will be one-day weekend closures of the East Madison Street-South State Street and East Madison Street-Packard Street intersections in late April and early May; traffic and pedestrian detours will be posted at that time.
