Expected on either Friday, May 31, or Monday, June 3, the second phase of the Hoover/Greene/Hill utility, road and sidewalk improvement project will begin. At that time, the East Hoover Avenue and Greene Street intersection will open up with temporary pavement. East Hoover Avenue between Greene Street and South Division Street will remain closed in both directions to through traffic; however, local access to parking lots SC11 and SC37 and loading dock SC15 will be maintained by the contractor. Access will be intermittent and drivers can expect delays. Pedestrian access will be maintained along E. Hoover.

With the exception of the water valve work at the East Hoover Avenue and South State Street intersection on June 3, eastbound traffic on E. Hoover will be detoured north on Greene Street, east on Hill Street and south on S. Division Street to E. Hoover. Westbound traffic on E. Hoover will be detoured north on S. State, west on Hill Street and south on Greene Street to E. Hoover.

East Hoover Avenue from South Main Street to Greene Street will be closed to through traffic; however, access will continue to be available to SC 41, 35 and 2.

Updates about the project’s future phasing and detours from June through November will be forthcoming.
