On Wednesday, July 6, Observatory Street from Geddes Avenue to just north of Washington Heights was closed for Phase 2 of construction of a new water main and reconstruction of the road.  Following is a description of an additional Phase 2A that will expand the current construction impact area to also include the entire Observatory Street-Geddes Avenue intersection.
Beginning on Tuesday, July 26, Phase 2A of the construction work will commence in the intersection of Observatory Street and Geddes Avenue.  Geddes Avenue between Observatory Street and Washtenaw Avenue will be closed to through traffic.  Access to local driveways will be maintained.  Observatory Street will remain completely closed to vehicular traffic from Geddes Avenue to just north of Washington Heights, including a full closure of the Observatory Street-Washington Heights intersection.  The posted traffic detour will route traffic via East Ann Street, Zina Pitcher Place, and Washtenaw Avenue.

Pedestrian access will be maintained through the expanded construction zone.  Traffic delays remain possible during Phase 2A of the project and it is advised to seek alternate routes if possible.
