Silt Fence

Technical drawing of a silt fence with multiple views and material specifications.

Detail Text Description

A detailed technical drawing of a silt fence. The drawing consists of multiple views and annotations explaining the components and installation of the fence.

The first section is a top view showing the flow of water through a silt fence reinforced by wire mesh, anchored in a compacted trench. The geotextile filter fabric is supported by fence posts anchored into undsturbed vegetation. Annotations indicate the water flow direction, and fabrication instructions state that end posts should be wrapped together once when splicing fence sections.

The next part is a front view detailing the positioning of fence posts driven into the ground and the configuration of the geotextile fabric and wire mesh support, with a coupler band securing the components. The filter fabric extends from the ground up, supported by fence posts.

The third drawing, labeled as Section A-A, illustrates a cross-section view highlighting the placement of the geotextile filter fabric and anchor trench at the base, emphasizing the alignment towards earth disruption on the uphill side. The ridge of compacted earth is also noted.

A table lists material requirements, covering specifications such as woven geotextile fabric width, hardwood post length, tensile strength, tear strength, permittivity, and opening size.

At the bottom, the title “Silt Fence” is included, along with a note regarding alternative erosion prevention methods.
