Detail Text Description
A technical drawing illustrating a utility trench with a gravel patch. The trench is shown in cross-section and includes detailed labels about its construction. At the top of the trench, there is a layer of existing stone with a minimum thickness of 8 inches, compacted to 98% maximum density. Below this, there is Class II granular material also compacted to 98% maximum density. The trench encompasses a pipe, with stone to extend min. 1′–0″ beyond granular fill below and a 5.5-foot cover above the new water main. The minimum trench width extends 6 inches beyond the pipe width or is adjusted to meet compaction requirements. The pipe bedding has a minimum thickness of 4 inches using Class II granular materials. Additional notes provide guidelines on trenching and density testing standards. At the bottom, the title “UTILITY TRENCH WITH GRAVEL PATCH” is prominently displayed.
