Overview
This project has been funded by the State of Michigan. The Office of Design and Construction, of the State’s Department of Management and Budget is responsible for administering the state capital outlay program and in conjunction with the U of M Architecture, Engineering and Construction is managing the design and construction for this project.
The renovation will involve a complete demolition of the interior of the building and construction of new plumbing, heating, cooling, electrical, ventilation, fire protection and electrical systems. The exterior will be refurbished including cleaning and pointing of the brick. New windows will be installed as well as new rain gutters and leaders. The addition, which will be the barrier free entrance, will contain a stair and elevator. The elevator will provide barrier free access to all floors. The building will house the Division of Surveys and Technologies a division within the Institute for Social research.
Construction started fall 2000 and is expected to be completed in spring 2002.
