The College of Engineering proposes the construction of a new research and teaching facility for its Robotics program. This new four-story state-of-the-art facility is approximately 140,000 gross-square-feet and will house research and testing laboratories, associated support functions, offices and classroom space. It will also accommodate space for its corporate partner Ford Motor Company, who will co-locate collaborative research activities within the facility. The building will be constructed in an open plan design concept to allow for greater collaboration, increased flexibility, and better space utilization. Several of the key testing labs include a robot walking lab, a flight testing lab, a rehabilitation robotics lab, and labs for electronics and software development. It is estimated an additional 130 parking spaces will be needed for this project, and this demand will be satisfied with additional parking on North Campus.
