About the Project
The new William Monroe Trotter Multicultural Center is a result of extensive outreach and input from a variety of constituents. Engagement included four town halls with students and representatives from the William Monroe Trotter Multicultural Center, Student Life, AEC and the consulting team; eight focus group sessions with student groups that frequently use the current Multicultural Center; benchmarking to other university multicultural centers, and coordination with the neighbors. The new 20,000-gross-square-foot building will provide replacement spaces from the current facility. In addition, a multipurpose room will accommodate approximately 300 people for conferences and events while an active learning configuration will accommodate more than 100 students. Parking will be accommodated within existing parking spaces on Central Campus.
Schedule
Construction is underway and the project is expected to be complete winter 2019.
