The University of Michigan’s men’s gymnastics team is the 2025 NCAA National Champions. It is a highly successful program with a rich history, holding seven NCAA championships and 21 Big Ten championships. The team’s existing practice facility, located in the Coliseum building, is in poor condition and planned for demolition to allow for future university development. To support the continued success of the program, the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics proposes construction of a new approximately 31,000 gross square foot Men’s Gymnastics Training Center adjacent to the Bahna Wrestling Center. The proposed state-of-the-art facility will include dedicated gymnastics practice areas, team and coach locker rooms, athletic training and recovery spaces, and coaching and staff offices. To address the expedited project schedule, we are requesting to bid and award select early packages for site preparation, and long lead items like electrical gear. The cost for these proposed early packages is approximately $3,700,000. The scope of this project includes the architectural, electrical, and mechanical work necessary to accomplish these improvements. The project will permanently displace approximately 70 parking spaces.
