U-M Health University Hospital Backfill Renovations Phase 1

U-M Health University Hospital Backfill Renovations Phase 1

U-M HEALTH UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL ELECTRICAL SUBSTATION REPLACEMENT

The University Hospital (UH) opened in February 1986 and is now 39 years old. Upon the activation of the new D. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion later this year, several patient units in UH will become vacant following the transfer of multiple clinical services. This provides an opportunity to invest in the renewal of UH, extending its useful life in support of our patient care mission. This project is Phase 1 of an eight-phase renovation project in UH. The first phase includes the renovation of approximately 68,700 gross square feet, encompassing two inpatient units on Level 4 and two on Level 8. This renovation will improve critical infrastructure, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and fire safety. The project also includes moisture mitigation on the north exterior of UH, along with modernization of patient rooms and corridors. There will be no impact on parking from this project.
